At the outset, Foreign Minister Rassoul highlighted historic religious and cultural relations between the two countries, and expressed Afghanistan’s gratitude for the Islamic Republic of Iran’s assistance to Afghanistan in numerous areas, including political and economic and reconstruction.
He also stressed strengthening of Afghanistan-Iran bilateral relations.
Iran’s Ambassador reiterated his government’s commitment to Afghanistan and stated “the deep mutual commonalities among our two nations should be cornerstone of efforts for enhancing bilateral cooperation in various areas.”
Meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the two-sides discussed the situation in Afghanistan and Afghanistan-Uzbekistan bilateral cooperation. The Uzbek Ambassador congratulated Foreign Minister Rassoul on his appointment as Foreign Minister, and expressed the desire for strengthened political, trade and economic relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Rassoul expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s assistance to Afghanistan, and highlighted, in this regard, contribution in promoting security, stability and reconstruction in Afghanistan.
