Italy ready to boost Afghan role
Italy's Foreign Minister said on Monday that this country has a "moral duty" to increase its military role in Afghanistan, even if the Italian public is wary of casualties.
Italy - as U.S. ally and NATO member - is also prepared to temporarily deploy troops to the more volatile areas in southern Afghanistan, Foreign Minister Franco Frattini said in an interview with The Associated Press before leaving Monday for Washington. (thestar.com)
