Spanta the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan
met Mr. Araz Azimov the Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic
of Azerbaijan who is currently
visiting Afghanistan.
Mr. Azimov while conveying the greetings of the President of his country to
President Karzai offered his sympathies to the government and people of Afghanistan about the tragic event in Herat; he also officially invited Dr. Spanta to visit Azerbaijan in a
convenient time.
In his part Dr. Spanta talked about historical and cultural relations between
the two countries and reminded about the participation of 50 Azerbaijani
soldiers in the framework of Turkish ISAF team in Afghanistan
who are working to ensure peace and stability here and added this is a clear
indication of their good-well desire for Afghanistan. Minister Spanta said,
the two countries can work in the areas of economic development, transfer of
energy, exchange of information, and security cooperation’s for facing the
danger of terrorism and narcotics.
And Afghanistan can use from the
expertise of the Azerbaijani side in security issues and replacing the
cultivation of narcotics with saffron.
In his part the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan
said, his country to ready to assist Afghanistan in all areas.
Mr. Azimov delegation who are currently visiting Afghanistan was consists of
interior, borders, mines and intelligences ministries. In this meeting various
regional and international issues of interest came under discussion.
