The Ambassador of Afghanistan met Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania

Bucharest - Romania, Wednesday 18 July 2018.

H.E. Mr. Gul Hussain Ahmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Romania, with residence in Warsaw, presented the copy of his Credential letters to H.E. Dr. Monica Gheorgita, Secretary of State for Global Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania.

During this meeting, the Ambassador and the Secretary of State, had a fruitful discussions regarding the bilateral relations and cooperations in different areas, such as: holding the bilateral political dialogue between the Foreign Ministries of Afghanistan and Romania, enhancing cooperation between economic business and trade communities, educational institutions and universities of Afghanistan and Romania.

Mr. Mohammad Daoud Noorzai, Counsellor of the Embassy, Ms. Cristina Romila, Deputy Director, and Ms. Odette Maria RADU, First Secretary, Asia Pacific Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania were also attended in the meeting.

Background of Diplomatic Relations between Afghanistan and Romania:

Diplomatic Relations between Afghanistan and Romania were established on the year 1958, this year is 60 years anniversary of the establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries. The Embassy of Romania is open in Kabul.

Romania extended its support and assistance to Afghanistan in different areas in the past years. Romania also extended about one millions US Dollars financial support to the National Security Forces of Afghanistan’s budget for the years 2020-2024, at the NATO summit, (11-12 July 2018) in Brussels.

The Ambassador of Afghanistan presented his Credential Letters to H.E. President of Romania

H.E. Mr. Gul Hussain Ahmadi, Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to Romania, with residence in Warsaw, presented his Credentials letters to H.E. Mr. Klaus Iohannis, President of Romania.

Ambassador of Afghanistan, during presenting of his credentials letters, to H.E. President of Romania, conveyed the greetings and appreciations of H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the people of Afghanistan to the President and to the People of Romania for their support and assistances in the past years. The Ambssador also added that, during his Mission as the Ambassador of Afghanistan to Romania, he will try his best for strengthening and enhancing of the bilateral cooperations in different areas, between the two countries.

H.E. President of Romania, conveyed his congratulations and best wishes for the new Ambassador of Afghanistan to Romania and he added that, as the Romania had extended its support and assistances in the past years, we will continue our support and assistances in the future to the Government and to the people of Afghanistan, in different areas of the bilateral cooperations between Romania and Afghanistan.

H.E. Mr. Gul Hussain Ahmadi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Latvia with residence in Warsaw, presented his Credentials letters to H.E. Mr. Raimonds Vējonis, President of the Republic of Latvia at Riga Palace.

Ambassador of Afghanistan, after presenting his credentials letters, in a meeting with H.E. President of Latvia, conveyed the greetings and appreciations of H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, President, H.E Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the people of Afghanistan to the President and to the People of Latvia for their support and assistances in the past years and the Ambssador, added that, during his Mission as Ambassador of Afghanistan to Latvia, he will try his best for strengthening and enhancing of the bilateral cooperations in different areas, between the two countries.

Ambassador Ahmadi, also discussed about current situation, Parliamentary Election, peace process in Afghanistan, as well as strengthening and enhancing of the bilateral cooperation between Afghanistan and Latvia.

H.E. President of Latvia, conveyed his congratulations and best wishes for the new Ambassador of Afghanistan to Latvia and he added that, as the Republic Latvia, had extended its financial support for the 2020/2024 budget to the National Security Forces of Afghanistan’s budget, we will continue our support in the framework of Resolute Support Mission as well as other areas of cooperations between Latvia and Afghanistan.

In this meeting, Mr. Mohammad Daoud Noorzai, Counsellor of the Embassy of Afghanistan in Warsaw, H.E. Ms. Maija Manika, Ambassador- Foreign Policy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Latvia and Mr. Tils Indans, Senior Desk Officer of the Asia Pacific and Oceania Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia were also attended.

Background of Diplomatic Relations between Afghanistan and Latvia:

Diplomatic Relations between Afghanistan and Latvia, were established on 16 February 1928 and restored on 18 January 2005.

Latvia extended its support and assistance to Afghanistan in different areas in the past years. Latvia also extended two millions US Dollars financial support to the National Security Forces of Afghanistan’s budget for the years 2020-2024, at the NATO summit, last week in Brussels.
