On April 7th, the Afghani Day event was held at Łazarski University. This event was organized in cooperation with the HAMKARI association and the Department of Foreign Languages at Łazarski University under auspices of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Warsaw. It was supposed to introduce Afghanistan to the event’s participants and present a different image of our country.
It began at 11 o’clock with the ceremonial welcoming by the University’s authoritie s and Miss Maria Amiri; chief of HAMKARI Assosiation. Then Mr. Sayed Hussaini, the 1st Secretary of the Afghan Embassy in Warsaw; acting as the charge d’affaires during the Ambassador’s absence delivered a short speech.
After a short welcome, invited speakers took the floor. Marcin Ogdowski, Interia journalist and the author of a special blog “Z Afganistanu.pl”, presented a very interesting presentation regarding Afghanistan as seen by his eyes as the war’s correspondent. He supported his speech with many interesting photos. After this, the guests were invited for a little treat prepared by our Embassy.
The event continued with the remainder of the lectures and presentations. One of the lectures was held by Baz Mohammad, secretary of ex-Ghazni governor Mr. Usman Usmani and it was titled: “Ghazni as seen by Afghanis”
Jakub Gajda (the founder of the portal: Afghanistan 24.pl) followed the lecture by Baz Mohammad, and he talked about his journey through the Wakhan Corridor.
The other guest, Tomasz Kaminski, a traveler and Afghan scientist, showed Afghanistan as a tourist country.
The series of speeches was completed by Olga Milenkiewicz; an employee of a non-governmental organization, who in contrast to Baz Mohammad, talked about Afghanistan as seen by foreigners’ eyes.
The whole event was finished with the screening of Marcin Mamoń’s movie titled “The 8th Gate”.
